Joel Dewberry in Barcelona

This is the first time I've tried the Barcelona Skirt pattern and I'm very impressed. To be honest, I was a bit dubious at first, as there is no reinforcement around the waist. All of the skirts I've made in the past have had a waist band or yoke of some sort, usually with some interfacing. But it works fine in this skirt, if anything it makes it more comfortable to wear. One tip though...if you're making it from light-weight cotton, when you're fitting it, make sure it is very firm around the waist, as it will loosen a bit in the first 20 minutes of wearing it.
I made this one from some of the Joel Dewberry fabrics but any light-weight cotton would work well. You could also make it from medium weight cotton (and skip the lining) as long as the fabric drapes reasonably well. This would work well for Autumn or Winter with long boots.

Oh, you might just inspire me to finish the half made Barcelona skirt I started ages ago!

This is beautiful! Do you think it would be an appropriate pattern for a beginner.

Yes, Sandra I think it's perfect for a beginner. The most difficult part is putting in the zipper, so if you're happy to do that, the rest is easy.
